Project's description

Marseille metro network is composed of 2 lines for 22,2 km and 29 stations. In the framework of the network modernization program (NEOMMA project) and more specifically of the renewal of trains and systems allowing a full automatic operation (GoA4) (Contract M1 – RST and Systems), Alstom offers URBALIS 400 range as CBTC solution.
The CBTC subsystem includes ATC (Automatic Train Control) on-board and trackside, ATS (Automatic Train Supervision) and STD Communication network.

The operation is planned in several stages : first in GoA2 mode for M2 line and then for M1 line, then GoA4 for M2 line and then for M1 line, each stage requiring an authorization for placing in service. The Generic Application CBTC is considered as already certified.

The commissioning of each line is planned in 2 phases between 2024 to 2026.

Scope of work

In this context, CERTIFER is involved as the Independent Safety Assessor for the Specific Application of CBTC to assess its compliance with CENELEC standards.
